07 August 2012Crew / Passenger Deaths(overboard) On August 7, 2012, ~ 1 am, a 33-year-old male crew fell overboard (off the boat's stern/aft deck) while the ship was docked/moored for an overnight port stay in Rainier OR. Witnesses saw the body in the river for a short time, then it disappeared. For the conducted by USCG search and rescue operation were dispatched a helicopter and a boat. The body was never found. On the same day, the riverboat left Rainier and continued on the voyage upriver, towards homeport Portland OR. |
08 April 2008Fire AccidentOn April 8, 2008, the operated by Majestic America Line cruise ship suffered an engine room fire. The accident occurred while the riverboat was near Maryhill WA, navigating on Columbia River (USA). The crew quickly extinguished the fire. However, left without power/propulsion, the disabled vessel had to be towed to a river bank where were disembarked all the 124 passengers and 53 crew. No injuries among passengers were reported, but some crew suffered smoke inhalation during fire fighting. |
