14 August 2024Propulsion / Power Loss

On August 14, 2024, Celebrity Cruises informed all customers booked on the next Celebrity Flora Galapagos cruises that the ship was experiencing a technical/propulsion issue affecting the max cruising speed and resulting in minor itinerary changes.

April 2020Cruise Illness / Virus Outbreaks

(Coronavirus) On April 14, 2020, the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) Provincial Committee of Emergency Operations that after all the ship's 69 staff-crew were tested for COVID-19 (Coronavirus), 48 tests returned positive. The infected crew remained on the boat and isolated in separate passenger staterooms. At the time, the Galapagos Province's confirmed cases totaled 72.

Since March 13, when Celebrity Cruises suspended passenger shipping operations fleetwide and globally, the company's Galapagos fleet (Celebrity Flora, Celebrity Xpedition) together with all other Galapagos-based cruise ships remained anchored off Baltra Island's northern coast (near North Seymour Island).

06 November 2019Boat Rescue

On November 5, 2019, at ~11:30 pm, the cruise ship assisted its fleetmate Celebrity Xpedition that ran aground on a sand bar near Isabela Island (Galapagos).

All Celebrity Xpedition passengers (46 total) were evacuated and transferred to Celebrity Flora arriving at the scene to help the vessel. After ~30 min the ship was refloated, but the cruise was canceled.

Celebrity Flora transported the tourists to Baltra Island, from where they were flown to Quito City and accommodated in hotels overnight.
