August 2022Structural and Technical IssuesDue to shipyard issues (mainly ongoing supply chain shortages caused by the COVID crisis and the Russia-Ukraine conflict) the vessel's construction was delayed and several cruises from the inaugural Mediterranean season were canceled (2x in June and 6x in August/2022). The ship's inaugural cruise in 2023 was rescheduled from June 15th first to July 3rd and later to August 26th. A total of 8x European/Mediterranean voyages were canceled (departure dates June 15 & 24, July 3-12-21-30, and Aug 8 & 17). For the affected bookings, NCL offered discounted replacement sailings (20% off the original cruise fare paid) with rebooking on the fleetmate Norwegian Getaway or to cancel with a full monetary refund. Clients were required to cancel by September 2, 2022. With rebooking on voyages departing between Aug 28, 2023, and Dec 31, 2024, NCL offered a 10% discount combinable with all available at the time of the booking promotions. Note: In 2023, NCL's Getaway ship was deployed in the Caribbean with USA homeporting (in NYC and Port Canaveral Florida), and in 2024 offered roundtrips to Bermuda (out of New York City) and in Europe/Baltic (out of Copenhagen). |
