04 January 2025Crew / Passenger Deaths

On January 4, 2025, at ~12 PM ship time (~16:00 UTC), a 66-year-old male passenger (citizen of the USA) was medevaced from the ship docked at Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal (Tsim Sha Tsui District).

Reportedly, the man, who collapsed in his stateroom, was ambulanced by paramedics to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Preliminary information noted the man had a known history of heart disease.

Silver Dawn arrived at 8 AM on Jan 4th for an overnight stay and was scheduled to depart on the following day (Jan 5th) at 2 PM. Following the incident, police officers boarded the ship for investigation.

The ship's schedule resumed as planned.

The incident occurred during the 22-day relocation voyage from Singapore to Tokyo (itinerary Dec 22 - Jan 13) visiting ports in Borneo Malaysia (Kota Kinabalu/Dec 26), the Philippines (Puerto Princesa/Dec 28, Busuanga Island/Dec 29, Manila/Dec 30, Subic Bay Freeport/Dec 31, Salomague-Ilocos/Jan 2), and in China (Hong Kong/Jan 4-5 overnight, and Shanghai/Jan 8).
