27 February 2024Structural and Technical IssuesOn February 27, 2024, RCI officially announced the cancellation of two cruises (including Star OTS' Maiden Voyage) due to delayed delivery from the shipbuilder Meyer Turku (Finland). The inaugural cruise (initially scheduled for August 17th, 2025) was postponed to August 31st, and the first two departures in the schedule (Aug 17th and Aug 24th) were canceled. Customers booked on the canceled Maiden Voyage (Aug 17th) were provided with two rebooking options - to be automatically moved to the new inaugural cruise (Aug 31st) or a similar 7-day Caribbean voyage on Wonder of the Seas (departure Aug 17th out of Port Canaveral) or on Icon of the Seas (Aug 16th out of PortMiami). The original cabin category price was either protected (at the original fare) or reduced to the current fare (whichever is lower) excluding Gov taxes, port fees, and crew gratuities. Both alternative ship options were valid until March 12, 2024. |
