Marella Explorer 2 cabins and suites

The cruise ship Marella Explorer 2 has a total of 907 passenger staterooms in 16 cabin grades (categories). All staterooms offer as standard amenities individual air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom (WC, single-sink vanity, hairdryer, glass door shower, toiletries, soap dispenser), mini-bar (drinks cost extra), carafe (can be filled with water from dispensers), tea-coffee making facilities, electronic safe box (behind a mirror), USB power charging points, LED TV. All staterooms are modern designed and with ample storage space (3 wardrobes - 1 double plus 1 single) regardless of the cabin category.

The liner has 26 connecting cabins, of which 2 are adjacent to Royal Suites and 7 are wheelchair-accessible (located on Deck 5 / behind the Reception Desk). A total of 30 cabins can be booked with single-occupancy rates and are designed for solo cruisers. Solo travellers receive a special letter in their cabins from the ship’s Social Hostess. It contains information regarding all pre-scheduled "single cruise" themed onboard events.

Some staterooms are triples and quads (with 3rd and 4th berths) and typically offered to families (kids travelling with their parents). However, these cabins can't be booked as Marella Explorer 2 is now operated as an adults-only ship.  

Inside / Interior Cabins are sized 16 m2 (170 ft2) and located on decks 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12. Each cabin is without windows and has a large mirror (above the bed) and smaller bathrooms (still with ample storage). Outside / Oceanview Cabins are on decks 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, same-sized as the Inside (170 ft2), but fitted with a large square porthole (non-opening window) located above the bed.

Balcony Cabins are on decks 8, 9, 10 and 12, same-sizes (as the Interiors/Oceanviews), but feature a step-out balcony furnished with a small table and 2 deckchairs. Aft Balcony cabins are with larger verandas. Know that Deck 9 cabin balconies are overlooked by Deck 10's balconies, while Deck 10's cabin balconies are overlooked by The Terrace (alfresco dining / open-air stern area on Deck 11). Deluxe Balcony cabins are larger (sized 19 m2 / 205 ft2) and on decks 8, 9, 10. Each Deluxe stateroom has sofabed (for 3rd passenger). Partition folding screens separate the cabin's bedroom and living/lounge area.

Junior Suites are sized 23 m2 (250 ft2) and located on decks 10 and 12. Each Junior Suite has convertible to Queen-size twin beds, lounge area (with sofabed for 3rd passenger), step-out balcony (with 2 sunloungers, 1 table, 2 deckchairs). Bathrooms are with bathtub and shower (over the bath). Junior Suites 1200 and 1201 are with shower only (no bath).

Deck 10's Executive Suites are sized 46 m2 / 495 ft2) and with a separate living/bedroom area, dressing area, walk-in wardrobe, large bathroom (shower over bath, separate shower), living area (sofabed, 2 armchairs, low/coffee table, coffee machine, 4-seat dining table). Balconies are fitted with 2 sunloungers, 1 table, 4 deckchairs.

Both Royal Suites are midship on Deck 10 and are currently Marella fleet’s largest staterooms (each sized 94 m2 / 1010 ft2). Marella Explorer 2's Royal Suite features a powder room (guest WC located by the cabin's entrance) with gold basin taps and marble cladding. The bedroom has King-size bed and HDTV. The separate living room has HDTV, double sofabed (for 3rd/4th passenger), 2 armchairs (with footstools), mirrored vanity table (writing desk with chair), dining room (with 6-seat table), dressing room, walk-in wardrobe, large bathroom (with double-sink vanity, separate shower, whirlpool bathtub, ample storage). Suite's large step-out balcony has a whirlpool hot tub (outdoor Jacuzzi), 2 sunloungers, 1 table, 4 deckchairs. The balcony can be accessed from the bedroom, dining room and the lounge.

"Premium Service" is Marella Cruises' suite-only program offering bonuses (price-inclusive amenities and services) for all Suite cabin categories (Junior, Executive, Royal). These suite perks include priority/express check-in, in-cabin dining (once per week Continental Breakfast served in bed), complimentary pressing (only during the first 24 hours on the ship, 3 items PP limit), concierge service (for dining/tours reservations), a bottle of Champagne (on embarkation day / upon arrival), premium bath toiletries (by the Clarins brand). Express services (airport check-in, luggage delivery) are subject to availability at cruise ports of call.

Celebrity Century cabins review

Of all Celebrity Century staterooms, 40% were Balcony, 65% Oceanview, 35% Inside. The ship had 300 cabins with triple/quad capacity (accommodating 3rd/4th passenger), 84 connecting and 10 handicap (wheelchair-accessible) cabins for disabled passengers. In most cabins was possible to be added an extra bed for toddlers (2x4 ft / 60x120 cm). All Suites and Family cabins were equipped with Xbox 360 gaming consoles.

Follows the review of the ship's staterooms when the vessel was operated by Celebrity Cruises as Celebrity Century (cabin capacity 956 staterooms).

All cabins as standard amenities have 2 twin beds (convertible to queen), ample closet space, private bathroom (shower, hairdryer, bath products, towels, bathrobes), comfortable sitting area (desk, drawers, vanity, sofa), smart HDTV, individual air-conditioning, direct-dial phone, safe, minibar (AquaClass rooms and suites have mini-fridge), Wi-Fi Internet access, deluxe bedding sets (100% cotton), 24-hour room service (complimentary). Some staterooms additionally have a sofa bed or/and upper (Pullman/bunk beds) for 3rd/4th person.

• Penthouse Suites have master bedroom (king bed, TV, vanity, walk-in closet), bathroom (double sinks, whirlpool bathtub, shower stall), large living room (lounge seating, double sofabed, media center, 2 TVs, Bose sound system, DVD), dining room (pantry, wet bar), powder room (shower), large balcony (whirlpool bathtub).
