American Duchess (2017-built, major refurbishment in 2023, scrapped in 2024) was an authentic-design stern paddle-wheel riverboat with itineraries on the USA's Mississippi River. The cruise ship was last operated by American Queen Voyages/AQV (rebranded from AQSC/American Queen Steamboat Company) and had as fleetmates the steamboats American Queen, American Empress and American Countess.
An interesting fact about this vessel is that it was built over an existing casino riverboat ("Isle of Capri") that was permanently docked in Bettendorf (Iowa, USA). The ship's hull, engines (power plant) and propulsion remained, while 3 new decks were built for the traditional "wedding cake" ship design.
American Duchess riverboat cruise ship deck plan has a total of 83 staterooms for 166 passengers served by 53 crew/staff (all-American), with 4 passenger decks (all accessible via 2 elevators), 2 lounges, 2 restaurants, plenty of open (sundeck) areas, no medical facility/doctor on the ship.
The onboard river cruising vacation experience was boutique and "all-suite", as the boat had only suite accommodations and provided premium amenities.
America Duchess' Mississippi itineraries were between New Orleans and St Paul, and also included the river's tributaries. The roundtrips from Nashville and New Orleans included overnight port stays. Chicago departures were offered with boarding in Ottawa (Illinois).
