American Pride (2012-built as "Queen of the Mississippi", last refurbished in 2015) is an authentic late 1800s design steamboat paddle-wheeler owned by the American Cruise Lines company. The company's other riverboats with paddle-wheel design are Queen of the West/American West (sistership), American Splendor (2016 as "American Eagle", sistership), Queen of the Mississippi/American Heritage (2015). With similar designs are also the Steamboat Company's steamboats American Empress and American Queen. These traditional USA paddle-wheeler riverboats are also known as "paddle steamers" because originally they were powered by steam engines. Steam power drives their paddlewheels (one located at the stern or two at the sides) to propel the ship through the water. Two diesel engines power the American Pride ship, and its propulsion system features 3 Azimuth thrusters.
American Pride river cruise ship deck plan has a total of 78 staterooms for 150 passengers served by 43 crew/staff, with 5 passenger decks (accessible via 2 elevators), 6 bars and lounges, 1 restaurant. The riverboat features both historic decor and a framework of top modern maritime technology. The modern amenities, comfort, special onboard activities, and uniquely designed history- and culinary-themed shore excursions add more to the USA river cruising vacation experience along the American Pride itinerary route.
Note: In August 2015, the shipowner announced that the old "Queen of the Mississippi" ship (launched in 2012 and previously operated on the Mississippi River) would be renamed to "American Pride", starting a new itinerary program on Columbia River.
American Pride itineraries offer USA cruise travel along the rivers Columbia and Snake (Pacific Northwest USA). In addition to its modern amenities and comfort, this American Cruise Lines ship also provides themed onboard entertainment and specifically designed tours and excursions themed after the region’s culinary, history and traditions.
