Deck layout and review
Review of American Splendor deck 1 (Main)
Deck 1 layout features the boat’s unique 14 m / 45 ft long ramp (bow-ship location) that allows guests to go ashore at any place along the America itinerary route on the Mississippi River. While all American Cruise Lines tours and excursions ashore are complimentary (included in ticket prices), guests still can arrange their own land tours and shopping excursions as private activities in ports of call.
Deck 1’s Vestibule (Lobby level) is the passenger boarding area, with portside-starboard entry doors leading to a narrow promenade deck that fully encircles the ship. Here is located the self-service laundry room (portside).
The America ship has a single-capacity dining room with open-seating. This is the boat’s main restaurant featuring floor-ceiling windows for panoramic portside and starboard views, classy furniture, 4-seat, and 8-seat tables, luxury dining amenities, crystal chandeliers. The cuisine is mostly American fare. The menu features many itinerary-inspired gourmet specialties and predominantly fresh food (fish, meat, in-season vegetables, and fruits). Breakfast (7:30-9 am) is buffet-style and includes made-to-order items. Lunch (12:30-1:30 pm) offers soup, choice of 3 dishes (often BBQ pork sandwich, pasta), chef’s salad. Dinner (6:30-7:30 pm) offers soup, salad, 3 entrees (incl fish, meat, and vegetarian). The wine list has a selection of domestic wines (available by the bottle or by the glass). The next-day menu is posted in the MDR the night before. Any dietary needs are catered for. Always available dessert choices are pie, cake, ice cream.
Cruise cabins from 113 to 118, all of which are Riverview – 1x category S-Single occupancy room (#117), and 5x category A (#118 is wheel-chair accessible).
