Review of Aurora deck 8 (D-Cabins)

Raffles Court & Bar (specialty coffees and teas bar in British Raj style, handmade chocolates, liquor selection)

Sindhu (Indian cuisine specialty restaurant by celebrity chef Atul Kochhar/London; open for dinner 6:30-9:30pm, from 11am to 6pm serving Indian Tapas (Nashta, comprising of 3 dishes such as Chicken Fillet Lollipops, Chilli Fried Calamari and Stir Fried Duck Supreme, for GBP 4.95), Indian beer and exotic cocktails; at surcharge GBP 15-25 PP). Dishes range from starters of Trio of Spice Crusted Scallops or Asparagus & Tandoori Paner Salad, Mains of Lavender Chicken Korma or Griddled Prawns with Spiced Pepper, and Desserts of Layered Pancake Gateau or Citrus White Chocolate Mousse. 

Vanderbilt’s Card Room (3 interconnecting rooms; bridge tournaments, carpet bowling, evening quizzes)

Photo Gallery & Shop (photo-video services, quipment, accessories)

Library (starboard location, also serves as Writing Room and Business Centre/meeting room; offers Kindle readers free of charge hire/10k+ e-book titles)

The Playhouse (213 seats cinema- movies, also used for lectures, classical music recitals, ports of call talks)

The Glass House (wine bar, and steakhouse/seafood specialty restaurant by celebrity wine expert Olly Smith; open 11am-11pm; this is the venue for the P&O “food and wine” cruise experience; casual dining at surcharge GBP 5.25-7.50 PP). The Glass House features a well stocked wine cellar along with daytime and evening menus. It serves food & wine combinations, and each course comes with an option of different glass of wine matched by Olly Smith. The menu includes a variety of dining options, such as small plates of food at GBP 4.95 for 3 dishes, larger plates comprising of prime steaks with hand cut chips (GBP 4.50-7.50) and individual dishes including Speciality Burgers, Fish and Chips (GBP 4.95). Desserts include Chocolate Tart and Lemon Cheesecake and cost GBP 2.75. The Glass House also features Enomatic wine system enabling guests to sample wine by the glass rather than having to buy the entire bottle. Wine flights are also offered and consist of three 125 ml glasses of different wines. There are 7 different flights to choose from each with different theme from wines from classic wine growing regions to luxury wines. Prices range from GBP 9.95 up to GBP 13.95 for matching food & wine flights.

Decibels Disco (starboard location teens club lounge with dance floor, soft beverages bar, computers and gaming consoles, TVs; opens 10 am)

Terrace Pool & Bar area (aft location family pool with 1 Whirlpool, 1 Paddling Pool with slide for kids, Children Play Area, poolside Bar/drinks, ice cream, open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.) The Terrace Pool is the smallest of all pools onboard (7,7x 4m by 1.2 m deep), reserved primarily for families with kids aged 10 years and under. 

Toybox Room & Night Nursery (for toddlers 6 months to 4 yo; features ball pool, arts-crafts, play corners, TVs, outdoor playing area). Between 6 pm - 2 am Toybox operates as Night Nursery (kids 6 months to 5 yo, 8 beds, 6 cots/”first come first serve” basis, complimentary)

Quarter Deck (children’s club room for 9-12 yo kids, has TVs, computers, Playstations, Jukeboxes, Karaoke equipment, cards, board games, books)

Jumping Jacks (kids club for 5-8 yo, open 9am-10:30pm; has ball pool, soft playing area, arts-crafts, computers, Playstations, outdoor playing area with toys and climbing obstacles)

Intergalactica (video games arcade)

The aft Terrace Sundeck occupies the area of the former Splashers Outdoor Play Area (portside), Surfers Play Area (midship) and the Paddling Pool (portside). Now the aft sun deck has a swimming pool (terrace Poll) flanked by two jacuzzies/spa pools.

Passenger cabins from D102 to D216, which are in categories LB, LC and LF – Outside with bath/shower on High Midship, High Bow and Aft; PC and PF – Interior with shower on High Mid, High Bow and Aft, EE-EB-Deluxe (aft), LE-Sea View (aft/facing the Terrace Sundeck).

Note: During drydock refit 2023, the aft-located youth facilities (Splashers, Surfers, H2O) were replaced with staterooms (D196 to D216), while their exclusive sundecks were transformed into the Terrace Sundeck (Terrace Bar, Terrace Pool, 2x Spa Pools/Whirlpools).

The Reef (Kids Club and Teen Club) The Children’s Clubs onboard, run by qualified CRB checked Youth Crew, are collectively popular as The Reef and divided into Splashers (2-4 year olds), Surfers (5-8-year-olds), Scubas (9-12-year-olds) and H2O (13-17-year-olds). On sea days the clubs are open from 9:00 a.m. for the younger kids and from 10:00 a.m. for youngsters aged 9 and over. On port days opening afternoon times vary, but they call close from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for children's tea in the Horizon. The kids facilities close at 11:00 pm. The free night nursery, for kids from 6 months to 4 years is open from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., available on a first come, first served basis. Meals are not provided in the kids clubs although snacks are offered so parents will have to ensure that they collect their kids to take them for all meals. Kids are not required to be toilet/potty trained to utilise the kids club facilities. Staff onboard can change nappies in case parents give them consent to do so.
