Blue Sapphire (1981-built as "Saga Sapphire", last refurbished in 2024) and the fleetmate Saga Pearl 2 were both sold and withdrawn from service (left SGA UK's fleet) after Saga Cruises' two new ships (Spirit of Discovery/2019, and Spirit of Adventure/2020) were delivered.
The boat has 12 decks, of which 9 are passenger-accessible and 8 with cabins. The cruise ship Blue Sapphire has an older design and non-identical (production-line fabricated/same-sized) cabins.
In August 2019 was announced that Saga Sapphire will be acquired by ANEX Tours (Turkey's largest travel agency/tour operator), starting operations for ANEX in mid-2021. The 39-year-old vessel was sold to/acquired by ANEX Tours on June 18th, 2020. Renamed "Blue Sapphire", it was scheduled to start operations for ANEX with homeporting in Antalya Turkey.
