Review of MV Stella Australis deck 5 (Darwin-Lounge)
Darwin Lounge is the ship's top-deck Observation Lounge served by its own bar. Darwin Lounge is the ship's largest public room, furnished with comfortable armchairs and cocktail tables and featuring large picture windows. The lounge also serves Australis Cruises' onboard enrichment program with daily lectures and media presentattions / documentary screenings (themed on Antarctica, wildlife, history, glaciology, geology, native peoples) and also daily trivia games.
At Darwin Bar are always available complimentary chips and cookies. There is a self-serve refrigerator with soft drinks and beers.
The ship has no wellness facilities (spa or fitness). The Gym Room (midship) usually is generally used as storage room.
The ship also has no swimming pool and hot tubs. Darwin Deck has the ship's largest open-air space for walking around outside, but without any seating (no deck chairs).
Aft are located the ship's 6 Zodiacs - large-capacity inflatable boats used for passenger landings on all shore excursions along the cruise itinerary route. Shore excursions (1 or 2 per day, each with duration of about 1/2 day) are complimentary and guided by professionally trained guides.
