Review of Marella Discovery deck 4 (Promenade-Casino)
Broadway Show Lounge is the ship’s big-capacity Theater (over 800 seats) presenting in the evenings grand-scale show and music productions. It features comfortable plush red tiered seating and nightly live performances, including comedy acts by guest artists. The ship’s entertainment contractor is PEEL Entertainment Group. The PEEL company provides live entertainment via partnership with Thomson Cruises since 2003. Part of the new (exclusive to the Discovery cruise ship) entertainment program are – virtual band performances and interactive music quizzes (by Prague Philharmonic Orchestra) and a total of 11 West-End shows. Shows start at 8:15 pm, with a repeat performance at 10:15 pm. Late Night Live slot starts at 11:15 pm, usually with a comedy act.
Casino Lounge (capacity 240 seats) has 164 slots and 11 gaming tables, and also hosts gambling tournaments and offers complimentary gambling lessons. The Casino Lounge is served by its own Bar. Blackjack is the game of choice offering regular specials (announced in the daily newsletter) which boost the chances of a payout.
Cocktail & Piano Bar (capacity 104 seats) offers live entertainment (by resident pianist/vocal/guitar), daily trivia games, Nintendo gaming competitions.
The Atrium is 5-decks high, an open-floor design area (mid-ship location) with 2 panoramic glass-wall elevators plus the other 2 midship lifts. The Lobby level is served by the Atrium Bar, open from 10 am until midnight. A lounge of its own, the Atrium’s lobby features glass walls, relaxing lighting, comfortable seating, light entertainment during the day.
The Atrium leads into Discovery's "flagship bar", the Live Room, home to the largest selection of beers on-tap. It is also billed as a room for families, despite the fact, there is not anything particularly kid-friendly. There is a bright yellow grand piano, live music and dance floor.
47-Degree is the ship's Main Restaurant (lower level 1 of 2 / Main Dining Room) which is complimentary and with an open-seating arrangement. Here are offered buffet-style Breakfast (8-10 am) and Lunch (12-2 pm) and waiter-served, multi-course Dinner (6:15-10 pm). The Main Restaurant once per week hosts the ship’s formal dress-code events (Captain’s Gala Reception, Captain’s Gala Dinner). Both special events are with fixed dining times (early/late sittings) assigned upon boarding. The restaurant is connected to the Galley/Kitchen and its storage rooms.
The cruise ship features an outdoor, open-air Promenade Deck.
