The aft-located Mud Room is utilized for passenger embarkation and disembarkation on/from the Zodiac boats (large-capacity, inflatable boats / expedition landing craft). The room has lockers providing gear storage (jackets, boots, snorkelling equipment). In warm weather destinations, the cruise ship provides complimentary snorkeling gear (wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins) for passenger use during the cruise expedition.
Expedition Landing Craft fleet consists of 8 inflatable boats and 2 loading stations. They are used for passenger disembarkation in places otherwise inaccessible by the ship. Each expedition boat has length of 19 ft (6 m), max capacity 12 people and is powered by a 4-stroke outboard engine. These boats are specially designed (military-grade) watercraft with extra holds. They are also fitted with custom-designed ladders for easy boarding and disembarkation.
The cruise ship also has an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) capable of reaching depths up to 1000 ft (300 m). The ROV allows passengers to view undersea areas inaccessible to scuba divers.
The cruise ship is also equipped with a fleet of 24 seakayaks (2-person). The ship's aft-located floating platform allows deploying seakayaks directly from the ship.
The ship's hydrophone (underwater microphone) is also deployed from here to listen to the sounds produced by marine mammals. Transmissions are in real time and can be broadcasted (through the ship’s PA system) or recorded and later played back.
Another cool gadget is the ship's underwater camera. This high-definition camera is carried by an undersea specialist who dive during Zodiak boat expeditions,
All decks have elevator access and public restrooms.
