Review of Silver Wind deck 8 (Bridge-Lido-Pools-Cabins)
The fore-located Navigation Bridge/Wheelhouse and the adjacent Captain's Suite and officers' quarters are inaccessible to passengers.
Pool Bar and Pool Grill serve the pool deck area with drinks and fast food during the day. In the evenings, the outdoor seating area becomes an intimate al fresco dining venue with classic steakhouse and seafood choices, plus healthy and vegetarian selections.
After the refurbishment in 2012, The Grill in the evenings offers an alternative option for gourmet dining under the stars. Signature meals here are the lava-rocks grilled meat (premium beef, veal, pork, lamb), seafood (salmon, prawns, fresh fish of the day), Mediterranean vegetables, salad of the day, baked potatoes. The Grill’s outdoor seating terrace makes it the ship’s alfresco dining alternative restaurant. Wines are complimentary, but premium wines from the Connoisseur’s Wine List cost extra. The Grill implements the Silverseas line’s new interactive dining concept (named “Black Rock Grill Experience”), allowing guests the unique chance to cook their own meat and seafood to their own specifications. This Lido deck section is equipped with gas heaters and awning that protects guests from inclement weather. The Grill is open between 7 am and 4 pm, offering self-service Wellness Breakfast, waiter-served Continental Breakfast (8:30-10:30 am) and casual Lunch (with hot dogs, burgers, grilled chicken, salads, seafood). The waiter-served Dinner (7-10 pm) is reservations-only event. Wellness Breakfast menu includes smoothies, fresh fruit/veggie drinks, low-calorie food. Among the grill’s daily fast food choices are various pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, hot dogs, grilled meat/seafood.
The Swimming Pool is with saltwater and heated during cool-weather sailings. The pool’s sunbathing area has teak chaise loungers, towels for guests; 2 whirlpools, tennis tables.
Connoisseur’s Corner (starboard, formerly known as Humidor) is the ship’s smoking-allowed lounge furnished with leather armchairs. Here can be also purchased brand cognacs, fine cigars, vintage wines.
Panorama Lounge & Bar (capacity 34 seats) offers live music and dancing in the evenings (resident pianist performances), Continental Breakfast (from 6:30 am) and Afternoon Tea service (4-5 pm, with finger sandwiches, fresh cakes/pastries). Daily activities here are reading books or playing board games.
Differing from the sister-ship Silver Cloud, the Wind ship’s Lido Deck also has cruise cabins (numbers 801 to 804), each with a private veranda. These are all four MS-Medallion Suites, located forward (near the Wheelhouse/officers' quarters).
