Utopia Of The Seas deck 16 plan (Sports-Teens-FlowRider-Ultimate Abyss)

"Hooked Seafood" is a New England-style specialty seafood restaurant (open for lunch and dinner) located in the Solarium complex. It offers fresh seafood and also has a cantilevered raw bar (The Vue Bar) where raw shucked oysters and fresh crab claws can be ordered. Hooked Seafood restaurant's menu has selection of Appetizers (Fried Calamari, Shrimp Cocktail, Mussels, Crab Cakes, Baked Seafood Dip), Soups and Salads (New England Clam Chowder, House Salad, Cesar Salad), Entrees (grilled, fried or blackened fresh fish / Halibut, Cod, Salmon, Bass, also Lobster Rolls, Hooked Fish Fry, and Steak & Jumbo Shrimp), Sides (Coleslaw, Fries, Lobster Mac-and-Cheese, Seasonal Vegetables), Oyster Sampler (1.2 dozen for two), Premium Shellfish (at market price - Stone Crab Claws, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Whole Empress Crab, Whole Maine Lobster, also Seafood Tower / clams, mussels, oysters, shrimp, lobster, crab claws). As Desserts, at "Hooked Seafood" are offered Boston Cream Pie, Blueberry Cobbler, Whoopie Pie, and Bread Pudding. Upon request, waiters also provide gluten- and lactose-free, as well as vegetarian options.

"The Lime & Coconut" (2-deck poolside/open-air bar lounge/decks 15-16) offers drinks and refreshments (frozens, soda, beer/buckets, wine, cocktails). Lime & Coconut's upper level (deck 16) is on the Sky Walk - a walkway connecting portside-starboard. This level of the lounge is often used for small-group-themed events (including single cruisers gatherings, cigar-smoking, etc). This is a smoking-allowed area.

Wipe Out Bar (36 seats) is a complimentary cafe bar serving the FlowRider deck with drinks and fast food (burgers, fries, hot dogs, pizza, chicken, sandwiches). There is a soft ice cream vending machine. WipeOut Cafe is open for Breakfast (8-11 am) and Lunch (11:30 am - 3:30 pm).

The full-size Sports Court (aft-portside) can be used for playing basketball, volleyball, tennis, football/soccer, dodgeball, daily group game competitions. There is a glass-enclosed area for playing table tennis (ping pong).

Utopia / Aqua Dunes (aft-starboard) is a 9-hole Mini-Golf Course (complimentary, 24-hour open, equipment provided). There is a separate 4-hole mini-golf course for kids.

Zip-Line (length 82 ft / 25 m, stretched across the Atrium) is complimentary, with a weight limit between 75-275 pounds (34-125 kg).

Utopia Playscape (aft-starboard, upper level 2 of 2) is an interactive indoor-outdoor playground for kids. The facility is on two decks (15-16) and fitted with a mini-golf, slides, climbing walls, jungle gyms, puzzles, various games, a touch-activated interactive mural.

Youth Zone (neighborhood, mid-level 2 of 3) is a teenagers-dedicated complex (for children 12-17 yo) consisting of Fuel (disco), The Living Room (club lounge), Challengers (video arcade), Mimi Bites (eatery) and The Back Deck (outdoor sundeck /hangout area). Teen facilities are complimentary and supervised by dedicated staff. Teens are allowed to come and go as they please. Curfew hour is 1 am - unless accompanied by a parent/guardian. Teens (led by a staff member) can dine at the Windjammer buffet instead of with their parents. Royal Caribbean doesn’t offer teen-only shore excursions.

• Challenger’s Video Arcade (at surcharge US$1,25 per game) has popular arcade machines, foosball (air hockey) tables, skee ball, ring toss. Daily are organized gaming competitions. Among the favorites are classics (like Pacman, Galaga), music (like DDR X, Guitar Hero), racers (like H2 Overdrive, Fast And Furious, Sega R-Tuned). There are also family games (like NickToons Nitro, Sega Rally 3) as parents are allowed to visit and play with their children.
• Social100 is an indoor teen lounge with direct access to the Social100 Patio (teen sundeck with a spa pool midship on deck 17). Deck 16's Social100 is fitted with comfortable seating, books, a gaming area, foosball tables, vending machine.

"El Loco Fresh" is a Mexican restaurant (complimentary, capacity 100+ seats) located in the Sports Zone. It offers fresh-made favorites and serves with fast food the teen complex. "Cantina Fresca" is new for RCI's fleet bar-restaurant. Both restaurants offer indoor and outdoor seating/alfresco dining.

A total of 24 elevators (12x forward + 12x aft) provide access all the way to deck 16, while decks 17 and 18 are accessed by 6 lifts.

FlowRider (surfing simulator)

Utopia OTS has one FlowRider (RCI's signature surf simulator) located aft-portside.

Pumps project high-speed water (20-30 mph / 30-50 kph) across a small area creating sheet waves (stationary waves) to simulate ocean surfing. FlowRiders were first created as land-based facilities and were implemented by Royal Caribbean for guests to enjoy traditional surfing and skimboarding on cruise ships.

Royal Caribbean's FlowRiders are complimentary (cruise fare inclusive) and reservations are not required. Equipment (bodyboards and flowboards) is provided.

Private surfing lessons are available for booking at an additional cost per person. Groups are 6 to 8 guests.

The FlowRider's minimum height restrictions are 52 inches/132 cm (to use the bodyboard) and 58 inches/147 cm (to use the flowboard). Not allowed are footwear, goggles, go-pro cams.

Guests can surf at the simulator until they fall off the board. The facility is supervised by sports staff (safety, assistance, advice).

Ultimate Abyss Dry Slide

Aft on Deck 16 (entrance point) is the 10-story high dry slide "Ultimate Abyss" (introduced on Harmony OTS) - the tallest slide at sea, having height 150 ft (46 m), length 216 ft (66 m) and providing ride speed 9 mph / 14 kph.

Lido Deck is the entry-level. The launch area is located all the way aft (accessible via stairs near Wipeout Cafe) and features a see-through glass platform. Guests take a mat and slide all the way down to the Boardwalk - twisting and turning in a serpentine-like movement. The dry slide ends at the AquaTheatre's pool on deck 6 (aft).

Ultimate Abyss is a spiraling slide with 2 separate cylinders (symmetric to each other, each tube is 2,6 ft / 0,8 m in diameter) made of stainless steel and colored in purple. This is a vertical drop slide located in the Sports Zone's pool (aft-ship location).

The facility is complimentary and advance reservations are not required. The experience starts with a walk across a plank into the jaws of an anglerfish and boarding one of the specially designed mats. Slide mats are colored in black, each with an opening for the feet and a strap to hold on to. Follows the vertical drop (27-degree) some 92 ft / 28 m down to the Boardwalk.

The average sliding time (from the top to the bottom) is 12-13 sec. To avoid injuries (arm and leg burns during the ride) keep the legs straight and elbows in.

The Ultimate Abyss slide is dark inside (the tubes are intransparent) there are special sound effects and lighting produced by around 300 LED lights, as well as various graffiti artworks on the walls.

The dry slide's restrictions are a minimum height 44 inches (112 cm) and max weight 300 pounds (136 kg).

Utopia OTS has 3 other slides/waterslides grouped in "The Perfect Storm" complex (entry-level deck 18 forward). These are the spiraling race-slides "Cyclone" and "Typhoon" (colored, respectively, in yellow and blue), and the "Supercell" (colored in yellow and green).
