Viking Bestla (built 2014) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after the Norse mythology’s “mother of all gods” – the giantess Bestla, daughter of giant Bolthorn. Bestla and her husband Bor (Burr) have 3 godsons – Odin, Vili, Ve – the slayers of Ymir (ruler of the giants) and creators of the first humans – Ask and Embla. The name Bestla in Old Norse means “wife”.
