Viking Helgi (built 1984 as “Surkov”, major refurbishment 2008, acquired/last refurbished 2014) is one of all four Viking River Cruises Russia ships – together with Viking Akun, Viking Ingvar and Viking Truvor (of the same vessel class), and also Viking Rurik and Viking Sineus. This Volga River cruise ship is named after a Russian prophet-prince from the 10th century. Helgi was a brother-in-law and successor of Rurik – the legendary Viking chieftain who founded the mighty Rus empire.
