Viking Hemming (2014-built, chartered through partnership with Douro Azul) is one of the smaller-sized, modified design Viking Cruises longships on Douro River (Portugal) - together with Torgil (2014), Osfrid (2016), Helgrim (2019) and Gyda (2025).
This longship is named after Hemming of Denmark – the “peacemaker” king of the Danes. Reigning over Denmark for only 2 years, Hemming remains in history with the Treaty of Heiligen (811 AD). It was signed between him and emperor Charlemagne (aka Charles the Great) – king of the Franks and Italy. The treaty established Denmark’s southern boundary (at Eider River) with the huge Carolingian Empire.
Viking Hemming cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 53 staterooms for 106 passengers served by 33 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 swimming pool, 1 elevator (connecting Main-Middle-Upper decks only).
On the boat, there are no gym or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the cruise itinerary route.
