Viking Ingvar (built 1990 as “Pakhomov”, acquired/major refurbishment 2011, last refurbished 2013) is one of all four Viking River Cruises Russia ships – together with Viking Akun, Viking Helgi and Viking Truvor (all of the same vessel class), and also Viking Rurik and Viking Sineus. This Volga River cruise ship is named after Ingvar – the son of Rurik (the Viking chieftain who founded Rus). After the Rurik’s death, Ingvar (875-945 AD) was raised by his uncle Helgi and later succeeded him as a ruler to expand further the mighty Rus empire.
