Viking Jarl (built 2013) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after Jarl – the Norse mythology’s son of Heimdal and grandson of Odin (father of the gods). According to the legend, god Heimdal (the guardian of the gods) disguised himself as a human and left his post to travel the earth. Here he fathered 3 children, each with different social status. Thrall was a serf, Karl was a freeman, while Jarl was the noble earl who married Erna – the daughter of Hersis. In the Vikings world, “jarl” (the “earl” title) signified an aristocrat serving the king, with the responsibility to train warriors and to oversee vast territories.
Viking Jarl cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Jarl has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the Jarl’s itinerary route.
