Viking Kara (built 2014) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after Kara – one of the Norse mythology’s Valkyries (aka swan or wish maidens). “Valkyrja” in Old Norse means “chooser of the slain”. Lead by goddess Freya, the Valkyries ride into battles armed with spears. They choose who lives and who dies. Dead warriors were accompanied by the Valkyries to Valhalla – the “hall of the slain” in Asgard under the rule of Odin, the god of all gods.
Viking Kara cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Kara has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along Kara’s itinerary route.
