Viking Kvasir (built 2014) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after Kvasir – the Norse mythology’s god of knowledge. When the mighty Aesir and Vanir gods finally ended their war, they formed a truce with each of them spitting into a magic bowl. From their saliva, the new god Kavasir was created. When the evil dwarves Fjalar and Galar tricked and murdered him, they drain the god’s blood, mix it with honey and let it ferment into mead. The potent drink became known as “kvas” (also “kvass”) – the mead of wisdom, poetry and inspiration. “Kvass” in Old Slavic means “yeast”.
Viking Kvasir cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Kvasir has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the Kvasir’s itinerary route.
