Viking Skirnir (built 2015) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after Skirnir – the Norse mythology’s servant and messenger of the gods. He is the messenger of Freyr (the god of the kings) conducting his wooing of goddess Geror. As a reward for tor this favour, Skirnir demanded the god’s mighty sword. Skirnir is also famous for his mission to the mountain dwarves on the behalf of Odin (the father of the gods). Odin needed the skilled smiths to forge for him the Gleipnir – the magical restraint that will bind the monstrous wolf Fenrir (son of Loki). The name Skirnir in Old Norse means “bright one”.
Viking Skirnir cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Skirnir has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the Skirnir’s itinerary route.
