Deck layout and review
Review of Viking Vesta deck 2 (Promenade-Shops-Restaurant)
All Viking Ocean ships are designed with a full-circling Promenade Deck (4 laps = 1 mi = 1,6 km). This is an outdoor area going all the way around the ship. It provides the perfect opportunity for strolling and relaxation. However, jogging is allowed only at the designated track on Sports Deck 9.
The Theater (lower level 1 of 2) is the ship's main show lounge for grand-style musical and show productions in the evenings, including concerts, live comedy performances, itinerary/destination-themed dance shows (with local performers). The ship has its own team of professional singers and dancers who perform here, as well as at other venues with live (cabaret-style) entertainment (Torshavn, main pool deck).
The Theater is served with drinks and light snacks by its own Theater Bar (located outside and operational only when the theater is open). Inside the theater is available waiter service for drinks.
Part of the Theater (on level 1) are two Cinemas (movie rooms 1 and 2, both with stadium seating) which also can be used as conference rooms, and occasionally - for broadcasting sporting events. During the day, they serve the Viking Cruises enrichment program hosting itinerary-based (ports of call- and excursion-themed) expert lectures and media presentations. Nightly here are shown popular movies complemented with freshly popped corn.
The Shops are the ship's duty-free shopping arcade of retail shops and boutiques. A jewelry boutique sells brand jewelry, watches, and accessories. A Fashion Store also offers luxury sunglasses, bags, and top-quality sweaters. A convenience store sells liquors, tobaccos, sundries, sweets, and snacks. Another shop sells name-brand cosmetics and perfumes. On select evenings, at the shops are held trivia games and promo events.
The Atrium's mid-level (2 of 3/The Living Room lounge's upper level) has comfortable seating (4-seat tables) and offers playing cards and popular board games (including Monopoly, Scrabble, Chess). Part of The Living Room area here is The Viking Heritage Museum. It provides information on the Norwegian and Vikings' history, with high-quality replicas of weaponry, clothing, jewelry.
Torshavn Lounge & Bar (aka Viking Piano Bar) is the ship's piano bar/dancing lounge/disco nightclub (open between 9 pm and 12 midnight). The entertainment options range from daily live performances (by a resident pianist), music revues in the evenings, and nightly live band music dancing parties.
The Restaurant (aft location) is an open-seating Main Dining Room (MDR) with a daily-changing menu. Reservations are not required. Here are served local specialties and traditional American fare. The freshest food ingredients are locally sourced (delivered in ports of call along the current cruise itinerary). The Restaurant operates with priority reservations for passengers in higher-grade accommodations (priority level is based on the room category). At lunch and dinner are offered complimentary house wines (by the glass) and beer. The Main Dining Room is open for Breakfast (between 8-9:30 am) and Dinner (between 6-9 pm) - both with open-seating arrangements. The MDR features panoramic floor-ceiling window walls, plenty of 2-seat tables plus large tables (up to 8-seat). You may choose to share a table with others if you'd like to be even more social. A unique feature of the MDR is that (when weather permits) its floor-ceiling windows can be completely opened up, transforming the restaurant into an alfresco eatery. The MDR also has a central-located intimate bar - the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks.
The dining room restaurant's menu offers for Breakfast nice selections of cereals, yogurts, pancakes, waffles, bread, cold meats, sausages, egg station. The dinner menu is in 3 sections and offers daily specials (shrimp, crab souffle, specialty salads, Chilean sea bass, ribeye steak, filet mignon, chicken breast, strudel), tasting menu choices (itinerary-based regional dishes), and regular options (tiger prawns, Caesar salad, NY strip steak, poached salmon, roasted chicken, steamed vegetables, baked/mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, gourmet desserts- cheeses, creme brulee, cheesecake, a daily dessert special). Also always are offered vegetarian, healthy food, gluten-dairy-lactose-sugar-free items. On the MDR menu, there are also Market Price-listed items available for ordering at extra cost.
Power Walking/Jogging Track (4 laps = 1 mi) on a wraparound Promenade Deck (encircles the entire ship).
