Review of Viking Vesta deck 7 (Cabins-Lido-Pools)
Explorers Lounge (bow location; lower level 1 of 2) is an indoor observation lounge (observatory-type) with panoramic 2-story high glass walls. Here in the evenings are offered live performances by resident pianists, guitarists, and a classical trio. The lounge is served by its own bar (also selling a selection of craft beers) and has a small terrace (open-air seating area).
Viking Deli (starboard, aka Mamsen's or Norwegian Deli) is a small, buffet-style food station part of the Explorer's Lounge. The Deli is open for Breakfast (early 6:30-7:30 am, and late 7:30-11 am) and Lunch (between 11:30 am - 2 pm), also for afternoon snacks (between 4-5 pm) and late-night snacks (between 10 pm - 12-midnight). The deli offers gourmet quick bites and sweets. Its menu includes specialties from the Viking Cruises President's mom's cookbook, such as warm sandwiches (shrimp, beef tartare, cured salmon, fish cakes, liver pate with bacon and fried mushrooms /bread are white, rye, and dark), soups, a selection of cream-filled pastries, pies, fresh-made waffles (topped with cheeses and chocolate), also fresh fruits.
Wintergarden (open between 8 am - 6 pm) is a glass-enclosed (Conservatory-type) poolside relaxation area furnished with comfortable couches and armchairs (with plush blankets). Its floor-ceiling sliding windows can be fully opened making it an indoor-outdoor venue. Here is also served Afternoon Tea (between 4-5 pm) with hand-selected specialty teas and light snacks (small pastries, fresh-baked cookies and scones, mini cakes, tarts, also finger sandwiches- chicken, tuna, veggie).
The Main Pool area has 1 rectangular swimming pool, 1 large Whirlpool, Lanai (sunbathing area), 2 poolside stations for drinks and food. In inclement weather, the whole area is covered with magradome (retractable glass roof). Lanai (the sunbathing area around the pool) is furnished with comfortable lounge chairs (each pair with a small table in between). The Lanai also has two shaded seating areas (passages located portside and starboard) furnished with grouped couches, coffee tables, and chairs. The pool deck is served with drinks and fast food by Pool Bar and Pool Grill.
The Pool Grill (open between 11:30 am - 5 pm) is a fast-food bar offering made-to-order burgers (incl vegetarian), French fries, chicken sandwiches, grilled fish. There is a separate salad bar, also offering make-your-own options.
The Pool Bar (open between 10 am - 8 pm) offers soft beverages, refreshments, cocktails, wine by the glass, daily drink special. The Bar has counter seating and offers table service.
All Viking OCEAN ships have the signature for large cruise liners outdoor cinema with a big LED screen. This is an outdoor movie theater showing movies, concerts, game shows, live sporting events. During movie nights, the pool deck area is usually covered by the magradome (retractable glass-roof). Warm blankets and Bose headphone sets are complimentary provided (placed on each of the padded loungers).
The World Cafe is the ship's second buffet-style restaurant serving Breakfast (between 6:30-9:30 am), Lunch (between 11:30 am - 2:30 pm), and Dinner (between 6-9 pm). The World Cafe features an open kitchen and floor-ceiling window walls. Like at The Restaurant (MDR), weather permitting, the windows can be opened, tables are set up outside and the Cafe transforms into an alfresco dining venue. The breakfast menu features a selection of fresh-baked foods plus an omelet station (made-to-order eggs and omelets). The lunch menu includes fresh-made pasta and pizzas, a salad bar, daily special (bagel sandwich), stations for meat, grilled fish, burgers, and fries. On request, fresh dishes can be made at all the food stations. Dinner menus are the same as The Restaurant's (MDR on deck 2), plus a sushi bar. At lunches and dinners is also offered freshly made gelato ice cream.
Aquavit Terrace (aft location, facing the Infinity Pool area) is an al-fresco (outdoor seating) relaxation area served with food from the World Cafe buffet. The infinity-edge pool here (with 1 Whirlpool) is glass-backed and cantilevered off the ship's stern. The Aquavit Terrace has floor-ceiling sliding door-windows. With a button push, it could be transformed from an indoor dining place into an outdoor observation lounge. The Terrace has its own Aquavit Bar selling a selection of liquors, beers, cocktails, wines, soft drinks, and refreshments. The Bar also serves drinks to the infinity pool deck area.
Lido Deck passenger cabins from 7000 to 7018, of which Penthouse Junior Suites (category PS2), Deluxe Veranda rooms (DV1), and the Owner Suite (category OS/forward-starboard).
