Viking Vidar (built 2015) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after Vidar (Vidarr) – the Norse mythology’s god of loyalty and vengeance. When the monstrous wolf Fenrir (son of Loki – the trickster god) devours his father Odin (the god of the gods), Vidar swore to hunt it down and kill it to avenge his death. Fenrir was killed in a most heroic way. Vidar stepped on the monster’s lower jaw with his heavy shoe and pulled on its upper jaw.
Viking Vidar cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Vidar has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the Vidar’s itinerary route.
