Viking Vilhjalm (built 2015) is one of the new generation Viking Cruises longships. This river cruise ship is named after William Longsword (893-942 AD) - half brother of Kadlin and son of Rolf (aka Rollo and "the Ganger”, first Duke of Normandy). Succeeding his father in 927 AD, William ruled Normandy until his death in 942 AD. The Rolf's great-great-great-grandson Vilhjalm ("William the Conqueror") became England's first Norman King. He was the son of Robert the Magnificent (Duke of Normandy), invaded England in 1066 and defeated Harold Godwinson (Harold II) at the Battle of Hastings (October 14, 1066). William was crowned on Christmas Day (December 25th) 1066.
Viking Vilhjalm cruise ship deck plan has a total of 95 staterooms for 190 passengers served by 50 crew/staff, 4 passenger decks, 1 glass elevator (connecting Main-Upper decks only). The Viking longship Vilhjalm has no gym, pool/whirlpool or spa. Guests may access health & spa facilities at luxury hotels along the Vilhjalm’s itinerary route.
