Wind Star deck 4 plan (Bridge-Lido-Pool)
Deck layout and review
Review of Wind Star deck 4 (Bridge-Lido-Pool)
Deck 4 layout starts with the Navigation Bridge (traditionally called “Wheelhouse”). Windstar Wind Star ship has an “Open Bridge Policy”, which means guests can visit the Bridge (which is open 24 hrs a day) to see how the yacht operates. Guests are also allowed to stand on the Bridge Wings (protruding over the sides of the yacht).
On deck 4 (in front of the Wheelhouse) there is a small staircase that goes down to the so-called “Forecastle Deck”. In this deck area, guests are usually not allowed, but in good weather, the crew may escort them through the forecastle to the bowsprit of the yacht (the forward-most point) for taking photos.
Next is the Radio Room (portside).
“The Veranda” Restaurant is the ship’s dining room (capacity 80 seats, with indoor/outdoor ample seating) for buffet-style breakfast (7:30-9:30 am) and lunch (12:30-2 pm). Along with the buffet choices, there is a la carte menu for ordering through the waiters. In bad weather, lunch is served at the AmphorA restaurant (deck 3). Lunch buffets feature cold soups, salads, fresh fruits, cheeses, desserts, ice cream. Buffet breakfasts include oatmeal, pancakes, bread pudding, pastas and stews, cold meats, vegetables. The indoor seating section is called “Veranda Cafe” and features floor-ceiling panoramic windows on 3 sides. In the evenings, The Veranda restaurant is transformed into the “Candles” specialty restaurant (with no surcharge).
“Candles Grill” (starboard) is an al-fresco steakhouse open for dinner only (7:30-9:30 pm). This is a specialty restaurant with waiter service. The restaurant is complimentary, but reservations are required due to its small capacity (30 seats). Its menu offers prime steaks and grilled seafood served on open deck right under the stars.
Next is the pool area with 1 small swimming pool (4,6ft / 1,4m deep) with a small waterfall cascading from the whirlpool (raised on the platform). There is a sunbathing area served with drinks and light snacks by the Pool Bar. The pool deck area is directly accessible from The Lounge on deck 3.
The Pool Bar serves Continental buffet breakfast, and afternoon tea and sandwiches (4-5 pm). This is the ship’s outdoor smoking area.
Twice per voyage, the pool area hosts the line’s traditional “Deck Barbecue” parties. Between 7:30-9 pm, the whole area turns into an outdoor venue for dancing and dinner under the stars. The whirlpool is being covered to form a stage for live music performances.
