CFC Renaissance (built in 1993 as "MS Maasdam", later renamed "Aegean Myth" by SEAJETS Greece, last refurbished by CFC from January to March 2025, and previously refurbished by HAL - Holland America Line in 2018) is the second of the four Statendam/S-class Holland America ships, alongside Ryndam (Celestyal Journey), Statendam (Vasco da Gama), and Veendam (Aegean Majesty). HAL’s Maasdam was named after the Maas River in the Netherlands. In 2020, the vessel was sold to Seajets Ferries (Greece).
In July 2020, MS Maasdam was sold to Seajets Ferries and renamed "Aegean Myth". In August 2022, the ship was acquired by CFC (Compagnie Française de Croisières) and renamed "MS Renaissance".
MS Maasdam/CFC Renaissance’s cruise ship deck plan (des ponts) includes a total of 629 staterooms accommodating 1,285 passengers (maximum capacity 1,510 guests), with a crew/staff of 560. The ship has 10 passenger-accessible decks, 12 lounges and bars, 2 swimming pools (one with a retractable glass roof), 2 outdoor jacuzzies, and 8 elevators.

MS Maasdam Deck Plan Changes – 2018 Refurbishment Review
During the 2018 drydock (August 31 – September 9, at Freeport, Bahamas), MS Maasdam underwent the following Suite upgrades:
- New furnishings: sofas, chairs, headboards, carpeting, wall coverings, privacy curtains, draperies, bed runners, bed skirts, vanities with quartz stone tops and modern lighting, dressers, dressing tables, nightstands, LED reading lights, and wardrobes with lighted closet rods
- Updated cabin décor and amenities: espresso machines, binoculars, complimentary mimosas with in-cabin breakfast
- New USB outlets on bed headboards, additional power outlets, and LED ceiling lighting
- BOSE SoundDock systems (iPod docking stations)
- Interactive HDTV system with Internet access and free movies on demand
- All Suite bathrooms were renovated
This refurbishment was part of Holland America Line’s USD 300 million fleetwide renovation program (2016–2018), which included upgrades to entertainment, dining, and suite accommodations across the fleet.
In 2016, HAL enhanced MS Maasdam’s onboard programming—covering enrichment, entertainment, and children’s activities—by replacing “Dancing With the Stars” with “BBC Earth” content.
- The theater lounge began offering daily expert lectures, multimedia presentations, and a nature-themed game show with BBC Earth footage introduced by the crews who filmed it. Evening concerts featured a signature “Frozen Planet” show (polar region-themed) with live musicians.
- The children’s facilities (Club HAL) introduced an explorer trail, workshops (including journalism and filmmaking), and fact-based shows on topics like animals and dinosaurs.
Holland America-themed voyages gave guests access to BBC Earth creators, who shared behind-the-scenes stories and media. Children had the chance to participate in filmmaking workshops.
