Mystic's brand Nicko Cruises announced the line had canceled the current voyage on its oceangoing Vasco Da Gama ship, due to positive COVID cases among crew onboard.
The German company released an announcement saying that positive cases had been detected among the crew members during the recent testing. Therefore a decision had been made to cancel the cruise as a precautionary measure.
Because of the high number of crew members in quarantine and the isolation of their close contacts, the ship could offer only limited service in some areas, Nicko Cruises' statement said.
Vasco Da Gama is now sailing from Mindelo (Sao Vicente Island, Cape Verde) to the Canary Islands.
The ship will disembark her current passengers in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) on Saturday, February 26.
Vasco Da Gama departed from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on February 18 and was scheduled to visit Santo Antao Island, Porto Novo, Cape Verde (Feb 21), Mindelo, Sao Vicente Island, Cape Verde (Feb 22), Sal Island, Palmeira, Cape Verde (Feb 23), Boa Vista Island, Sal Rei, Cape Verde (Feb 24), Praia, Santiago Island, Cape Verde (Feb 25), Dakar, Senegal (Feb 27), and arrive back in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on March 2
