CCL-Carnival Cruise Line on Friday, March 11, marked half a century since its maiden voyage out of PortMiami (Florida USA) with a celebration on Carnival Conquest.
Carnival President Christine Duffy was joined by Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison and Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald; Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; U.S. Representatives Frederica Wilson and Vern Buchanan; Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez; Miami industry and community leaders; Carnival leadership.
Carnival announced at the event a US$50,000 donation to World Central Kitchen to support Ukrainian relief efforts as well as in the name of its 300+ team members from the country.
Christine Duffy also presented a US$50,000 donation to the line's long-standing partner Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. Duffy was presented with a commemorative gift marking the occasion. Mayor Bermudez read a proclamation that declared March 11, 2022, as Carnival Cruise Line Day in Doral.
Carnival’s year-long 50th birthday celebrations also included 17 Sailabrations/themed voyages that featured ship meetups, special entertainment and programming.
