A body was recovered late Wednesday, March 16, after a man jumped overboard from the CCL-Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Horizon ship.
In a statement, CCL said that together with the US Coast Guard, the ship’s crew had located and recovered the body of the passenger. CCL’s Care team was providing assistance to his family.
Earlier on Wednesday, CCL said that Carnival Horizon was "conducting a search for a guest who jumped overboard" from Deck 11 at ~7 pm ET.
The accident occurred after the liner departed from Grand Turk Island (Cockburn Town, Turks and Caicos) at 5 pm. Horizon was sailing close to the Turks and Caicos, just before 9 pm, and was scheduled to arrive in Cozumel (Quintana Roo Mexico) on Thursday, March 17.
Carnival Horizon was cleared by the USCG to resume her course.
