ACL-American Cruise Lines announced that American Symphony had been successfully launched last week at Chesapeake Shipbuilding (Salisbury MD).

She is the 5th ship in the new riverboat class ACL introduced in 2018.

American Symphony will start cruising the Mississippi in August 2022.

Construction is underway at the shipyard on the company’s 6th riverboat, American Serenade.

American Symphony will boast the same sophisticated design and state-of-the-art features showcased on 2021 sistership American Melody, such as the series’ opening bow and retractable gangway.

The newbuild will accommodate 175 passengers. American Symphony has 5 decks, 91 all-balconied staterooms, a 4-story glass atrium, indoor/outdoor dining venues, multiple spacious lounges, large wellness complex, and a Sundeck with a Skywalk and an ellipse cutout cantilevered over the vessel’s 4th deck café below.

After the float out, American Symphony was positioned in Chesapeake’s East Outfitting Basin where she will receive her upper decks and outfitting.

American Symphony will start her inaugural Mississippi River season this summer, with 8-day Lower Mississippi River voyages between New Orleans LO and Memphis TN, and then transition to Upper Mississippi sailing between St Louis MO (Missouri) and Minneapolis-Saint Paul (Minnesota).
