Amadeus River Cruises is building a new river cruise ship scheduled for delivery in Spring 2022.

The newbuild will be the 17th passenger ship of the Austrian cruise company and will sail primarily on the Danube and Rhine.

"Amadeus River Cruises" (amadeus-rivercruises.com) is a brand of the German passenger shipping company Luftner Cruises (aka "Lueftner Cruises"). The company is based in Austria and ranked among the most-renown river cruisetour operators on the European waterways. Established by the Luftner family (Martina Lueftner and Wolfgang Lueftner) this privately-owned company operates only premium riverboats, most of which are "Amadeus"-named.

The name “Amadeus Cara” originates from Latin and means “valuable”/“precious.” It was chosen to emphasize the commitment of the family business to luxury river cruise ships.

Amadeus Cara's itinerary program is based on homeporting in Passau GermanyAmsterdam Netherlans, and Basel Switzerland.

The Maiden Voyage (8-day Rhine Cruise) is currently scheduled to depart from Basel (on June 10, 2022) and end in Amsterdam (on June 18th). Prices started at EUR 2000 (~GBP 1690) per person with double occupancy.
