This spring, after a couple of seasons were canceled due to the COVID crisis, voyages are set to make a comeback at Port Montreal (Quebec Canada).
A total of 46 port calls are scheduled for 2022.
Depending on the occupancy rate of each ship, this will bring between 40,000-50,000 passengers, which is good news for the port city and tourism stakeholders given the economic benefits of this activity. In 2019, the industry generated ~US$30 million in economic benefits for the City.
Port Montreal is seeing a general trend toward smaller ships that provide more luxury and local excursions. Great Lakes itineraries are very popular, including Montreal because of its location on the St Lawrence Seaway leading into the Great Lakes.
There are 6 new cruise ships calling Montreal for the first time, including Ambassador Ambience, Peace Boat’s Zenith, Phoenix Reisen’s Amera, Vantage’s Ocean Explorer, also Ponant’s Le Bellot and Le Dumont d’Urville.
