Princess Cruises, the leading line on the west coast with the longest history sailing from the Port Los Angeles (Long Beach, California), on Sunday (March 27th) revealed the first glimpse of its newest MedallionClass ship – Discovery Princess – departing on her maiden voyage to the Mexican Riviera.
The company's President John Padgett, along with ship officers, welcomed the first guests, Michael and Sally Smith, on board with a special ceremony. The Smiths (from Sacramento California) are frequent guests cruising with Princess for the last ten years.
Discovery Princess expands the brand's fleet to 15 liners, offering stylish accommodations, gourmet dining, extensive alfresco dining areas, world-class entertainment, and expansive views from Princess Cruises' largest balconies at sea in the Sky Suites.
An official christening ceremony will take place at Port Los Angeles on April 29th with more details to follow.
The 3660-passenger Discovery Princess was built in Italy (at Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard) as the 6th and final Royal-Class newbuild, with fleetmates and sisterships Royal Princess (2013), Regal Princess (2014), Majestic Princess (2017), Sky Princess (2019) and Enchanted Princess (2020).
