The exclusively adult cruise line Virgin Voyages liner Resilient Lady (scheduled for inauguration in August 2022) is the fleet's 3rd 110,000-GT-ton newbuild. The hull features a Latina mermaid designed by popular oil painter and muralist Jodie Herrera.
Herrera’s Latina mermaid is inspired by the Varga Ladies painted on the aircrafts of American WW2 planes, a symbol of individuality and rebellion. Emblazoned on the hull of Virgin's Lady Ships, the mermaids are representations of the brand and the commitment to diversity.
Resilient Lady's mermaid features a resolute stance and a fiery red tale inspired by Rosie the Riveter. Jodie Herrera, is an accomplished artist who has exhibited abroad and across the US. She has a permanent piece that is a part of the Art Archives of America in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.
The new mermaid is no different as she celebrates the culture and history of the regions Virgin’s newest boat will visit, such as San Juan Puerto Rico.
Virgin's Resilient Lady inaugural cruise season (2022) is currently planned as an Eastern Mediterranean summer deployment. In early March 2021 Virgin Voyages officially announced two itineraries scheduled for Resilient Lady. Both are 7-night roundtrips from Piraeus-Athens Greece.
The Maiden Voyage ("Greek Isles Itinerary") visits the islands Santorini, Rhodes, Crete (Heraklion), and Mykonos (overnight). The second voyage ("Adriatic and Greek Islands Itinerary") visits Dubrovnik Croatia, Kotor Montenegro, Kerkyra (Corfu Island Greece), Argostoli (Kefalonia Island Greece).
Following the Mediterranean 2022 deployment, Resilient Lady will be repositioned to the Caribbean (USA) with an 11-day Transatlantic crossing from Lisbon to San Juan (homeport). The Caribbean 2022-23 winter season is scheduled between Nov 12 - Apr 22.
Note: In the Caribbean, Virgin liners are usually homeported in Miami Florida and all their itineraries visit Bimini Bahamas as a private island destination.
