Brazil's Federal Police arrested 6 people who would embark on a Costa cruise at the Port of Santos, on the coast of Sao Paulo, with ~30 kg of drugs on Monday, April 18.
The suspects, 3 men and 3 women, will be responsible for international trafficking, as the cruise ship is heading to Europe.
Costa Diadema ended her 2022 national cruise season on Monday with an 18-day voyage from Santos (Brazil) to Italy, via Spain. Ports of call include Salvador de Bahia, Brazil (April 21), Maceio, Brazil (April 22), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands (April 30), Cadiz, Spain, Sevilla (May 2), and Barcelona, Spain (May 4).
The action was part of the Transatlantic Operation, carried out by the Federal Police together with the Federal Revenue, the Military Police, and the Port Guard.
A passenger from the state of Santa Catarina had cocaine found in the false bottom of a suitcase. The drug was discovered with the help of a sniffer dog.
4 more Brazilians, 2 from Santa Catarina and a couple from the Ceara state, were also arrested. In addition to them, an Argentinian was arrested with 1,740 kg of cocaine strapped to his waist. The three were taken to the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) in Sao Vicente, also on the coast of Sao Paulo, and the women to the Women's Prison in the same city.
