New York City will serve as the backdrop for an extraordinary inaugural event when the newest flagship of MSC Cruises - MSC Seascape, enters service later in 2022.
The cruise company announced plans to hold the ship’s christening ceremony at New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal on December 7.
The event will be attended by important partners, local dignitaries, top travel advisors, media, celebrities, and international artists. Academy Award-winning star Sophia Loren will carry out her iconic role as godmother to her 18th MSC liner.
MSC Seascape will be the line’s first cruise ship to be named in New York, reflecting its commitment to the North American market and its upcoming expansion to New York and the Northeast with year-round sailings from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal beginning in April 2023. MSC is continuing to expand with 2 new liners coming into service in 2022 - MSC World Europa and MSC Seascape. MSC Euribia is next in line during the 2023 summer.
While in New York City, specially invited guests will enjoy a christening ceremony that features live performances and entertainment, along with a gala dinner and a chance to discover MSC Seascape’s onboard venues.
MSC Seascape is expected to sail to PortMiami right after the ceremony for an inaugural Caribbean season. She will be the 2nd Seaside EVO class cruise ship to enter the MSC fleet and the 4th in the line’s innovative Seaside class.
MSC Seascape will sail on 2 different 7-night itineraries from PortMiami (Florida USA):
- Eastern Caribbean, visiting Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Nassau (Bahamas, New Providence Island), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Puerto Plata-Amber Cove (Dominicana).
- Western Caribbean, visiting Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel (Quintana Roo Mexico, Riviera Maya), Grand Cayman Island (George Town Harbour), and Ocho Rios (Jamaica).
