On Friday, April 22, Havila Voyages took delivery of its 2nd ship, Havila Castor, at Turkey's Tersan shipyard.
Havila Castor will commence sailing the coastal route Bergen-Kirkenes (Norway) on May 10. She is identical to her sistership, Havila Capella, which the company took delivery of in November 2021.
Havila Castor has a market value of ~NOK 1.2 billion (~EUR 124 million) and is financed with equity and a loan of EUR 46 million from the shipyard and the shipyard’s bank. This loan is for a 3-month period.
Havila Castor's initial financing could not be carried out. The lack of financing from the leasing company for the delivery term resulted in Havila Kystruten being referred to take over the vessel by means of alternative financing.
Havila Castor is owned by HK Ship V AS which is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Havila Kystruten Operations AS.
Havila Voyages is in the process of refinancing Havila Castor and the remaining couple of ships that will be delivered later in 2022, as well as Havila Capella.
