Very strong winds kept the Viking Cruises' ship Viking Orion from disembarking passengers in Santa Barbara (California USA).
The vessel arrived at noon on Saturday, April 23, under conditions with erratic winds/choppy seas.
Travelers on a Santa Barbara call have to come ashore in small boats (tenders), but conditions were not safe for the process.
All shore tours had to be canceled. Many bus/trolley companies had planned to take tourists to the historic sites/wine country for the day.
The change of plans means a loss for some of the businesses who looked forward to the guests visiting retail outlets and cafes and browsing unique areas like the Funk Zone.
The cruise ship had planned to be in the area until 8:00 p.m.
Viking Orion visited San Diego, California on Sunday, April 24, and was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles, Long Beach-San Pedro, California on Monday, April 25.
