The Portuguese Navy rescued a crew member from Costa's ship Luminosa Tuesday night, April 26.
The operation was a medical rescue for a crew who had suffered a heart attack. It was conducted through Funchal's Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcentre, in conjunction with the Port Authority of Porto Santo.
Following the alert, at the end of the afternoon at ~6:30 pm, a ship from the Funchal Lifeguard Station was engaged, with elements of the Captaincy of Port Funchal (Madeira Island, Portugal).
The crew was transported to Port Funchal and then to the hospital by an ambulance from the Sapadores do Funchal Fire Brigade.
Costa Luminosa arrived in Malaga (Spain Granada) on Wednesday, April 24, following a 14-day roundtrip Mediterranean voyage.
