Azamara Cruises introduced its newest ship, Azamara Onward, with an official christening ceremony and a maiden voyage from Monte Carlo (Monaco) to Venice (Marghera, Italy).
The naming ceremony was held on May 2, 2022, in Monte Carlo, followed by an 11-night voyage to Venice.
The official christening was led by the President of Azamara, Carol Cabezas. Beth Santos, Founder & CEO of the global community and lifestyle Wanderful, served as the godmother.
The traditional naming ceremony was held shipside at the Port of Monte Carlo and was attended by Azamara’s loyal partners, with a welcome toast by Cruise Director Eric De Gray, musical performance by Choeur d’enfants, and blessings by Rabbi Howard Apothaker & Father John McCrone.
Azamara President's Carol Cabezas and godmother Beth Santos delivered meaningful words to attendees which were followed by the ceremonial bottle-breaking tradition to bring good fortune to the newbuild in her future voyages.
The inaugural season of Azamara Onward will take guests to the Mediterranean, bringing them closer to the culture of each destination. The ship's 2022 schedule includes itineraries in the Adriatic Sea (7-8-night roundtrips from Venice and between Venice-Athens), Greece and Greek isles (7-night roundtrips from Piraeus-Athens), Black Sea (11-night roundtrips from Istanbul Turkey), 10-night voyages between Istanbul and Athens, as well as 8-15-night voyages between homeports Barcelona-Civitavecchia/Rome-Piraeus/Athens.
