AmaWaterways welcomed the arrival of its 2022 European cruise season with strong bookings and easing of entry requirements signaling the rebound of international travel.
AmaMagna on the Danube became the first of its 21-boat European fleet to commence the spring season on March 6 in Budapest (Hungary).
The launch of the new cruise season in Europe continues from March 17 onward with 5 vessels dedicated to the Tulip Time cruises, 5 boats cruising the scenic rivers of France, and another 10 welcoming passengers on the Danube, Douro, Rhine, and Moselle rivers. With an average of fewer than 150 passengers on board, an abundance of personal space, and personalized service, AmaWaterways is experiencing strong growth in demand from both returning passengers and guests new to river cruising.
Highlights of AmaWaterways’ 2022 European season include:
An excursion to Floriade Expo on 9 itineraries. All guests embarking/disembarking their river cruise in Amsterdam (Netherlands) can visit the once-in-a-decade horticultural event, Floriade Expo. The city district of Almere will be the host of The Netherlands’ largest public event with the theme “Growing Green Cities.” Between April 14-October 9, 2022, AmaWaterways guests have the opportunity to visit Floriade as a complimentary excursion on a number of distinctive river itineraries sailing along the Rhine and Dutch/Belgian Waterways.
River cruising in France added appeal with 5 ships on 4 rivers and turnaround Thursdays contributing to the ease of combining itineraries. In high demand is AmaKristina, the only twin-balcony cruise ship in France, sailing for her first full season on the Rhone between Lyon and Avignon. Also popular are Portugal cruises onboard AmaDouro and sistership AmaVida, which kicked off the Douro sailings on March 26.
Another unique experience for the current year is the Secrets of Egypt & The Nile itinerary onboard AmaDahlia, which debuted in autumn 2021. Passengers sail through the heart of Egypt as they experience the Nile and discover the treasures that line its banks.
AmaWaterways’ 2022 season features unforgettable voyages on 15 rivers in 31 different destinations for returning passengers and new-to-river cruisers looking for a luxurious escape.
