CCL-Carnival Cruise Line's ship Carnival Magic docked at Half Moone Cruise Center just after 6 am on Sunday, May 15, and marked the first cruise to depart from Norfolk (Virginia USA) since 2019.
It is also the largest passenger liner homeported in/to ever set sail from Virginia, having max passenger capacity 4428 plus 1367 crew.
Nauticus, which operates Half Moone, planned a ribbon-cutting for Sunday to welcome the first passengers onboard. The occasion was part of what Nauticus is describing as its "busiest year ever for cruises."
Carnival Magic is scheduled to depart at 4:30 p.m. for a 6-day voyage to the Bahamas.
10 other Carnival cruises are planned throughout 2022 to destinations around the Caribbean.
