The sea trials of the new ship NB-517 (IMO: 9895252) Swan Hellenic’s SH Vega were successfully completed on May 20, 2022.
The crew of the sea trials was tired after the trip but satisfied after receiving the necessary tests as well as finding that the vessel’s performance had met the criteria set for it.
Extensive tests/adjustments were also carried out at the pier before the actual departure to sea.
Project manager Jonas Packalen said the tests had gone well and ~800 tests had been completed and closed during the tests.
The 2022-built SH Vega is the second of the three Swan Hellenic-owned newbuild vessels/sisterships. The first boat in this series is named SH Minerva (2021-built, August-launched, December-inaugurated). The third boat (SH Diana) was ordered in October 2020 and scheduled for completion and delivery in 2023-Q1.
While Minerva and Vega are with PC5 ice-classed hulls and with 76 staterooms (max passengers 152), the 3rd ship (SH Diana) is slightly larger (12100 vs 10600 GT-tons/volume), PC6-classed, and with 96 staterooms (max pax 192).
