Another roundtrip voyage with Havila Capella cruiseferry has been canceled. Havila Kystruten was forced to cancel the upcoming voyage as no solution had been found for the ship's insurance.
Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected a dispensation application concerning Havila Capella's insurance, even though Havila Kystruten (shipowner) had been granted a dispensation to operate the vessel for a 6-month period.
According to CEO Bent Martini, they were constantly working to find a temporary solution to put Havila Capella back on schedule. At the same time, they were working on a permanent solution which meant that they took ownership of the cruise ship.
“This is a demanding situation for us, and it is difficult to estimate on how long this will take”.
Havila Capella's next scheduled voyage was due to depart on Thursday, May 26, at 8:30 pm from Bergen (Norway), and the cruise has now been canceled.
Martini concluded that as they did not have a solution ready, they had no choice but to cancel the next roundtrip.
"It is very unfortunate, first and foremost for all our guests, but also for our company."
