Construction on RCI-Royal Caribbean’s newest liner Icon of the Seas is currently underway in Turku (Finland) and one of the newbuild’s state-of-the-art elements is on the move.
The unnamed, 175-tonne sphere, which was first seen in December 2021, was lifted onto the liner after 4 days of preparation and a day-long transfer by a heavy barge.
14 m (46 ft) tall and 15.3 m (50 ft) in diameter, the structure is wrapped in protective material and ready for the next phase of construction.
RCI’s most anticipated vessel, Icon OTS, is scheduled to debut in 2023-Q3 with a lineup of signature favorites and firsts that are expected to set a new standard for vacations.
