Luxury cruise line Scenic Cruises unveiled a new timelapse video chronicling the construction of its newest Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse 2, which is scheduled to enter service in April 2023.
Showcasing the building progress to date, the video highlights the innovation and technology involved in the game-changing yacht.
The vessel, which is a near-identical sistership to Scenic Eclipse, is due to float out at the shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia later in June. The ship is being built by the global leader in luxury shipbuilding, MKM Yachts, owned by the parent company Scenic Group.
The Discovery Yacht is scheduled to make her inaugural sailing from Lisbon (Portugal) in April 2023 and will afterward make the most of her innovative hull design and onboard technology to explore both polar and warm-weather destinations.
Scenic Eclipse 2 inaugural season will include itineraries taking in Scotland, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Americas, and both Polar regions. In 2024 the vessel will also sail to Australia, Indonesia, and Polynesia.
One of the benefits of constructing Scenic Eclipse 2 at Scenic Group’s “in-house” yard is complete control over the build, design, and operation coupled with a swift translation of ideas to reality. Tweaks were made on the original design of Scenic Eclipse based on feedback from passengers and crew members working aboard. Vacationers can expect to see enhancements to the Senses Spa and a bigger pool and outdoor area on Deck 10. A larger submarine can hold up to 8 guests on dives.
